Frank Semple, Chairman

Mr. Semple is the retired chairman, president, and chief executive officer of MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. Mr. Semple joined MPLX in 2015, at the time of the MPLX and MarkWest combination ($15.6B transaction) and retired in 2016. He joined MarkWest in 2003, as president and chief executive officer and was elected chairman of the board in 2008.
Prior to joining MarkWest, Mr. Semple completed a 22-year career with The Williams Companies and WilTel Communications. He served as the chief operating officer of WilTel Communications, senior vice president/general manager of Williams Natural Gas Company, vice president, operations and engineering for Northwest Pipeline Company and division manager for Williams Pipeline Company. Prior to his time at The Williams Companies, Mr. Semple served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Semple earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School. Frank also serves on the board of directors of MPLX LP (Owner of Markwest Energy Partners LP and Marathon Pipeline LLC).

Kevin Jordan, CEO
Kevin is the majority principal in the Black Gold Group of companies. A native Oklahoman, Kevin received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Oklahoma State University where he was named the Outstanding Graduate. He also received a Law Degree from the University of Tulsa and a Masters Degree in Business from Southern Methodist University in Texas.
While certainly using the legal background in his various business endeavors, Kevin has spent most of his life in entrepreneurial roles in small and mid-size businesses. In addition to working for a commercial lender, an equity investment firm, and several large companies in various roles, Kevin has spent 25 years in executive management and ownership of numerous businesses that he has started, acquired, merged, or turned around and recapitalized amidst the turbulent times experienced by that business. He has consulted and/or facilitated financing and equity investments on dozens more in these same and other industries.
Jonathan Wedel, Executive VP & General Counsel

Farm raised and law school educated, Jonathan is a problem-fixer with a balanced respect for the theoretical and the practical (read: book training and hillbilly ingenuity). In 2016, Jonathan moved to Tulsa to practice law with Newton O’Connor Turner & Ketchum. With NOTK, Jonathan volunteered at every opportunity and logged significant litigation and transactional experience, including
- Multi-party employee-compensation litigation
- Complex contractual dispute litigation
- $26MM transactional sale of a Tulsa business
Today, Jonathan serves the Black Gold Group and its family of companies in dual capacities as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, managing several BG holdings. Whether at the ground level of a new business concept or at the turnaround stage of a struggling situation, Jonathan thrives when analyzing operational and financial details and devising and leading a plan toward future growth and sustainability.
Out of the office, Jonathan is a lucky husband, excitedly expecting-dad, and an avid outdoorsman and patio chef. Jonathan enjoys investing quality time with family and friends, chasing quail and pheasant with his man’s-best-friend Copper, and pursuing deer and elk across the mountains in the west.

Kellie Stone is currently Chief Financial Officer for Black Gold Group.

Leigh Anderson, CPA, is currently Chief Accounting Officer for Black Gold Group.

Brett Humphrey, Director, Office of the CEO
Brett Humphrey is currently serving as Director, Office of the CEO at Black Gold Private Equity Group, a leading PE firm based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Prior to his current role, Brett served as Co-Founder and CEO of AcreTech, Inc. AcreTech is a general software platform for energy data, analytics, brokerage, productivity tools, and other various services.
In 2017-2018, Brett worked as the Operations Coordinator for the 28th Governor of the State of Oklahoma, J. Kevin Stitt. Brett has also spent time in the corporate world working at Phillips 66 in their Global Credit Department.
Brett is a proud graduate of Oklahoma State’s Spears School of Business where he was awarded the prestigious Raymond D. Thomas Award for graduating #1 in the Class of 2016. He currently serves on Oklahoma State’s Spears School of Business Alumni Advisory Board.
Brett is actively engaged in the community, serving on the board of Stand in the Gap Ministries focusing their efforts on improving the lives of widows, orphans, & prisoners. He also serves on the Board for his old fraternity in college, the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Beta Theta Pi.
Brett loves spending time with his family, friends, and newborn nephews, Ben & Beckham. He has a passion for teaching financial literacy, loves to travel, and is actively engaged with college leadership students from all walks of life.
